5. Health & Safety/Risk Management update - T. Buckle - Suffolk PCT

6. Risk Management organisational update – T. Buckle - Suffolk PCT
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge. Tony Buckle handed out the printed regulations specific to the NHS.

7. Carbon Footprinting update
Skip dumping PC's has now been stopped and further emphasis has been placed upon the viability of reusing serviceable components. More effort is being looked into for recycling, but more effort is still required for the everyday collection of plastic cups and bottles which at present are taken away with normal refuse including much paper which was at one time, shredded and taken away for recycling. This would now suggest the local NHS organisations have totally regressed in this area although some comfort may be taken from large cardboard boxes are flattened and taken to the appropriate recycling people. It has been reported that some staff actually take their rubbish home for recycling as the NHS has far to go before getting it's house in order.

8. A.O.B
Paul advised the group that calling out pest control for wasp nests etc was not possible during Bank Holidays.
