THURSDAY 15 AUGUST 2002 AT 2.15PM, UNISON OFFICE, St CLEMENTS HOSPITAL, IPSWICH

 

 

Present: Paul Taylor, Cliff Dawson, Andy Willcox, Annette Petty (Minutes)

1.   Minutes of the previous meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting held on 2 May were agreed as a true and accurate record.

 

2.  Matters Arising                                                                                                                                                                                None

 

3.  Report of Workplace Inspections by Area

    Andy                                                                                                                                                                                                            A risk assessment acknowledgement has been received signed by Ron Baker. There are concerns by the porters in the SCH Reception Area who feel that the reception is unsafe with the heavy duty glass at the counter.  Also there is lack of space and the First Aid Box is not easily accessible. Andy will write to Julie Todd to express these concerns. Andy to contact Steve Barker regarding ligature points on site.

     Cliff                                                                                                                                                                                                             All points have been corrected at the Training Bungalow. Cliff will start inspecting Balfour House/Foxhall Cottages week commencing 19 August.

      Paul                                                                                                                                                                                                      There are still ongoing problems with Princethorpe Road, Paul to contact Sam Gillings-Taylor at Allington House and, if unsuccessful will contact the Health & Safety Executive. Paul circulated a report to the meeting showing progress to date and what action is to be taken in certain areas.

 

4.  General Progress

      In general progress is good around the areas concerned. Risk Assessments need to be up to date and signed, also required is an approved copy of the Fire Certificate.

A new Health & Safety Rep is required at Stourmead, Paul to investigate.

 

5.   AOB

The LHP Trust Health & Safety Committee meets on Wednesday 18 September at 1000 in Sampson House, SCH. Everyone is invited to attend this meeting (apologies from Andy and Cliff).

Glyn Reynolds wanted to remind all reps that the TUC Health & Safety Course Stage II (10 week course, 1 day per week) is looking for candidates to start on 18 September. Please contact City College, Norwich for further information.

It was suggested that the ID card is revamped with a photo ID card similar to the LHP one.  To be discussed at the next meeting.

All reps must liaise with Ron Baker on all Health & Safety risk assessments.

Annette to order a supply of Unison Cards for reps.

 

6.   Dates of remainder of meetings for 2002

The next meeting will be held at Lothingland on 10 October at 2.15pm. Glyn to book meeting room.

The final meeting for this year will be held on 27 November at 2.15pm in the OT Room at Walker Close – Paul to book room and confirm.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 3.30pm.
