It's not every day that hard work and dedication
gets awarded, but this year is different.
Suffolk HealthCare has won two
national awards amongst stiff opposition across the country which is no easy
task as the branch spans the whole of Suffolk with 1900 members and a 68 multi
employer base. Some of UNISON's larger branches can afford to employ
professional companies to look after communications whilst many can't afford
diddly squat. Suffolk HealthCare is somewhere in the middle and also believed to
be the largest area health branch in the UK covering 3500 square miles and
around 360 sites. Because of this, it is believed electronic communication
together with advertising site awareness is just another effective tool for
communications.
Branch Secretary, Ian Talbot, picked up the national 1st prize for the
Best electronic communications 2003. Ian is the web master for Communicator and
his other roles are branch publicity and IT support.

Ted Moore picked up the national
merit prize for best monthly news sheet 2003. Ted is now 80 years
old making him no spring chicken but he writes and distributes LinkUp magazine for our
170 retired members and this recognition is well deserved.
